Adidas is already the best sports brand when it comes to supplying information and providing runners with the news gadgets and accessories. And now they are going to take the market by storm again, with their Adidas Micoach. This software application provides runners with information and the latest news. Since Nike came with Nike Plus and Asics with MyAsics, Adidas is going to try it again after the project failed two years ago. Then it was a collaboration with Samsung and now they are going to do it all by their self. But it’s not the hardware which is impressive; it’s the website, which could be seen as a platform for runners to exchange information.
I already peaked and the website is really awesome for runners to expand their knowledge. The MiCoach is active in Holland from this week on and is already very popular as you can see in the video. The website is divided in three interesting directions. First is instant coaching application, which wants you to fill in information about yourself and generates a personalized training advice. Secondly, the runners can view some new gear which they can purchase as well. Thirdly, you can start with MiCoach, this means you have to fill in information about how your training is going and what you consider as a problem. This application provides also a couple of schedules and charts which are very handy when you want to optimize your results as a runner.
Check it out!
Personally, it is a good idea, especially for amateurs whom get stuck at one point of their training without having the information of solving these problems. So, runners among us, please take a look at this hot new item. I guarantee it will help you!

Twitter, Facebook, Hyves....World Cup?
The World Cup in South Africa is coming closer and closer, it’s just a matter of days and we can sit back and enjoy the greatest event in football. And so are the questions about the World Cup and the potential winners are rising and a lot of tweets and Facebook posts have this subject. Even the football players are posting a lot.
So the football players are twittering and facebooking their way. A famous incident is the one with Dutch player Gregory van der Wiel whom was sick for a friendly match, but posted a photo of him self a concert of rapper Lil Wayne in Amsterdam on Twitter. He apologized and erased his account. It’s just a matter of time other players start posting things what will be misunderstood by the readers. The Spanish coach already noticed it and told the players to quit with the hype.

So I personally think it has no harm to twitter once a week or facebook with you friends when you’re a famous player, but overdoing it would be wrong and sometimes famous people don’t know when enough is enough. So for the players I understand it’s mandatory to focuss on the game, but other famous people are welcome to post as much as nonsense about the World Cup, the question is whether there are enough people whom think it’s interesting or significant. I don’t think so, but hey, who am I? Right?

New Nike campaign: Write the future
Nike is off course one of the leading sportbrands when it comes to outrageously produced campaigns. And they did it again people, with the ‘’write the future’’ campaign they are trying to bomb everybody with it. Every website you visit which has only a little connection to sports, the world cup or soccer you see a link or a screenshot of the little movie they made. Since the campaign doesn’t address one specific product of the brand the movie is also very global, because the only aim is to make promotion for the soccer brand.
The movie contains of little scenarios of all the famous soccer players, such as Didier Drogba, Wayne Rooney, Frank Ribery, Cesc Fabregas, Cristiano Ronaldo off course and many more. But it is not the very campaign I want to inform you about, it is the way Nike puts this campaign in the market. They use every popular website to let people know about this campaign. The other day I was visiting, what I thought, a not-so-popular soccer news website and surprisingly they reserved a very big space for the ad on their website.
Write the Future! A piece of art right there!
I just want to let you know that Nike is the best when it comes to making a campaign big and well known for everybody. Facebook, Hyves, Google, QQ.com and many more websites are putting the campaign to the people. They are taking the world by storm with making perfect use of the Internet. I have seriously never experienced a brand being so smart when it comes to advertising. Just think back, Nike was the first brand making perfect use of the internet with the famous website where people could design their own shoes and clothes. Only Adidas succeeds in following Nike in this area. The movie really turned out great, check it out for your self and read more about the Nike Internet advertisements. It’s worth it!

Retargeted Marketing: The future of internet-based marketing
It already happens a lot times people, websites of companies you’ve visited tracking your surf history to advertise and bring you back to their website, thus the term retargeting. Websites such as google, eBay, Yahoo and many others are using this method to get your attention back to their ‘’important’’ ads.
An example of retargeting: when you’re surfing on the net for a vacation you want to book and you’re gathering information on the specific place you are planning to go. Later while surfing you see adds about this very place and even hotels and other offers of travel agencies which you already had visited. So when you see these ads you start finding it familiar and interested, these adds are a good example of retargeted ads.
A quick look in retargeting!
Another example is that a web shop programmer sees that there are a lot people have visited the website and searched for a specific product, but didn’t order it. After which he decides to offer these people a special add with ‘’only today: 10% discount’’, which is enough to convince the surfers according to statistics.
Both are very good methods to convince customers, because they are generating 2nd and 3rd chances to offer products or services. And there are a lot of ways retargeting is possible, the websites can make it very complex and than again very easy. As the way they do it needs to convince the customer. Next to that, it is not smart of the websites to over do it, for example bombing you with the same ads on every single page you visit.
The reason I’m blogging about this is because it occurred to me a lot times lately, when I’m searching for a specific service and every time I try to find a new advertisement, I get stuck on the ads I already saw. Which made me realise how well-thought these internet marketers are. If you ask me it’s impossible to fight this way of advertising, so just go with the flow, but don’t let them fool you.

Predicting the elections trough ‘’tweets’’

Yes people, Twitter is keeping on progressing and came up with a new idea together with internet bureau Mangrove. Mangrove is making a website which will measure the tweets given on Dutch twitter sites about the elections. This remarkable project came into existence by a young IT student Jordy van Gelder.
The website scans every name of parties whom are participating in the elections in every public tweet on Twitter. Trough the help of an language model their will be known whether the tweet is positive or negative about the written party. At this point there are 30.000 tweets which are scanned through Mangrove.
However, this way of measuring the elections of the future is not waterproof. Even the creator has to agree with this statement, because people could like one aspect of a party they are not going to vote for. But, the young internet marketer released a pilot version of the website and this far his measurements are somewhat the same of the big bureaus. It is just a matter time to see whether this way of predicting will be a success. Cause if it is, it is a lot cheaper than the other bureaus busting their bottoms and asking high priced measurement fees, which will bring a new angle to this branch.
My personal vote goes out for the old fashion way, I’m not a big fan of strategies which not offer a 100% cure. I’m going to watch the progression of our golden boy Jordy van Gelder and let you people know after the elections. Good luck with watching the debates on television, but do not forget that the best debater is not the best politician. As same as the saying: The captain is not the best player on the pitch. Try to look through all that jabbering and provoking and try to see the real successor of JP Balkenende, who that should be. I’ll let you decide.

Privacy problem at Zuckerberg’s
Facebook, two simple words which together stand for a word that everybody knows nowadays. The biggest social network website in the world with more than 500 million accounts. These 500 million accounts contain of a lot information what is very attractive for a lot of people and organizations. Normally, this information should be out of bounds for organizations because every social networking website has a firm privacy policy.
But lately the questions about Facebooks privacy policy form the headliners in the media. A lot of members are complaining that it’s very difficult to implement privacy applications on the website, what results in a lot of organizations using this information for their own good, without the members approving this. An example was the music website Pandora which used Facebooks ‘instant personalization’, what resulted in special music results adjusted on peoples Facebook accounts. While Facebook is getting paid gradually for this favor, the Facebook members privacy is being betrayed.
And this is not the first time Facebook comes up with a unreliable marketing activity like this one. Earlier this year the ‘’Beacon’’ campaign was launched, but this campaign died when members revolted massively. Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder and CEO of the company was already caught on saying not-so-nice things about privacy matters in the beginning when Facebook was just a website for Harvard students, but it seems like people are forgetting these things because the website still grows in accounts per day and the privacy policy is still very sloppy.
If you don't believe the doubts, check it out, see if you still think the same about he great FACEBOOK!
My personal vision about this is that the United States government should rise and be the bigger man without hurting the members of the website. Sir Zuckerberg should be put in his place and learn that peoples private lives are at stake, instead of thinking about his already filled wallet. I also have an account myself on the website cause it is bloody handy to stay in touch with friends overseas, but if their privacy policy is not going to change I’m going to switch. And let’s be honest there a lot of other websites, like the Dutch social networking website Hyves, which is growing in accounts every month. And has a reliable privacy policy.

Best phone for organizations, I think so!
Everybody who has a busy job and needs to stay in touch with colleagues and partners has one. It’s possible to mail, sms and even use a free messenger with people who have the same device. The media already calls it the best phone of 2010, still don’t know what I’m talking about? Well, I’m talking about the blackberry-hype. Is it really a hype or is the Blackberry really a useful phone for people in working in active organizations? I hope after I tell you my vision about it you know more about it, if you don’t know already.
The organization behind the Blackberry phones, Research in Motion, made it in the top 5 of the biggest phone manufacturers in the world. It is the first time that a smartphone manufacturer made it in to this list. Due to the newest Blackberry, the Blackberry Bold 9700, Research in Motion has gained popularity in other parts of the population. Such as students and people who have just started their own business. Especially when you know the Blackberry is the only phone which provides push e-mail and still maintains other top notch qualities other phones have. When you know these aspects it was only a matter of time Research in Motion would grow 50% in sales.

Is that the President of the United States of America with his own Blackberry? Yes it is!
After Research in Motion noticed the different reasons why people buy a Blackberry and divided the company into Blackberry Enterprise and Blackberry Internet Services, the first is the one which makes phones only for the big organizations and even installs software of organizations so the employees receive a company designed phone. Research in Motion is the only manufacturer which offers this service. Secondly, Blackberry Internet Services focuses more on the independents and the starting small companies.
It seems to me that this phone manufacturer really knows what she is doing and knows what the world expects from a phone in 2010. And after I heard about all the great stories, I have purchased my very own Blackberry Bold 9700. And believe me when I say that this is the best experience you can get form using a phone. I also think Research in Motion will stay in the top 5 of manufacturers for a very long time if they keep on doing this good. Just check it for yourself: www.blackberry.com .

RTL invests in Internet television
Everybody posts videos on internet nowadays, companies, universities and a lot of other associations. But there is still a branch where posting videos on internet seems useless, meaning the branch of the TV channels. Only CNN en BBC are convincingly successful with this formula. But now the famous Dutch television and radio company of the Netherlands started with a new concept. It goes by the name of ‘’Op en Top NL’’ . The program is going to show all the new developments about internet that is happening in the Netherlands at the moment.
The difference with the broadcasts on TV is especially that the programs last longer on the internet than on television. Standard Television programs have timeslots of 14 minutes; this is too short for the internet broadcasts, so they are going to make episodes which last longer.
RTL is not planning to earn in the first season of the show, but if it turns out to be a success, they are planning to draw sponsors and advertisers to the show. It is a new concept and the question is whether people are interested in the subject and if they want to do any effort for the show.
RTL is planning to hype up the concept with help of social media such as Twitter, Facebook, Hyves and Linked In to engage regular viewers to the show. I’ve been watching a lot of TV on internet, but these shows are mostly missed episodes, so I’m very curious what this concept will bring in to Internet Television branch.

Google politics
The time is there again, Holland is preparing for the elections again and wouldn't be strange if Google was not involved in the forgoing process. Google, one of the biggest players on internet came up with the idea together with the Dutch association ''Politiek Online''. Their goal is to give the Dutch people the chance to follow the parties on internet to help them decide for which party they will eventually choose. Next to the activities, there is also an oppurtunity for the people to see which party is the most popular regarding the searches on Google.
It's also possible to see where the most politicians are when you register on Google Maps. You can also see which of them is on Twitter.com or Hyves.nl, and when you want more there still is a tool which provides you with an overview of the parties in your zip code.
An example how Google gives an overview about the elections:

This is the first time that there is a tool such as this one, the first time that online marketing is put into action to provide the people with the knowledge they need to really vote in a way they think. This is a very sufficient way, because everybody knows how to work with Google and it’s just a matter of a click to get the information you need. This tool is very revolutionary and easy to use and maybe the best way to inform the voters in a right way.

Twitter, on top of business
Twitter has a new application for its members. It‘s called Tweet.tv, it is a playlist where all the posted videos at Twitter.com can be seen. So people don’t have to look up someone’s Twitter just to watch a certain video. They don’t have to search the feeds for hours, they just have to use the search engine in the playlist and....there it is! There are three different channels; My Tv, Public Tv and Search TV. My Tv shows all the videos that have been posted by the people you follow and interested in. For example, videos of concerts, trailers and other videos that the people you follow share on Twitter.com. Public Tv, provides all the videos that have been shared on the public Twitter accounts, these are the accounts that are accessible for everybody. And there is also Search Tv, which gives the user the possibility to search a video on a certain topic. Here, you can see what Tweet.tv looks like.

Twitter.com tries to come up with new things to interest its members and cooperating with youtube.com on this is a very smart move. Youtube.com is one of the most famous websites at the moment, Twitter.com is still rising and this collaboration will only do good for Twitter.com. Twitter.com is also still trying to get a deal with Vimeo and Dailymotion to have the possibility to play videos which are not on Youtube.com.
Personally, I think this is a very smart move by Twitter, because a lot of people are already on Twitter, tweeting about certain videos. Now, those people can just post the video without the inconvenience of links. I’m already using Tweetz.tv; I can say: it enriches your Twitter experience:).
Be safe,
Riza
